2018 Channel Leader Board

The Channel Leader Board summarizes the results of multiple plots in Northern Illinois. The purpose is to determine which Channel hybrids are performing the best in plots in 2018. In order to be included in the table, a hybrid must be observed in five or more plots.

The table evaluates hybrids on three measures:

  • Mean – The average yield relative to the plot average. For instance, a score of one indicates that, on average, a hybrid is one bushel/acre better than the plot average.
  • Standard Error – A measure of variance. Larger numbers indicate hybrids that are expected to exhibit greater variance around their mean. There is more risk in planting a hybrid with greater variance because one is more uncertain about how such a hybrid will yield across different environments.
  • Consistency – An indicator of top performing hybrids. This is the percentage of plots in which a hybrid is in the top 25th percentile.

Clicking on the relevant column headings will sort the table by these measures.
